Local Parades Collection Available
Some of my favorite events each year to approach with a camera are parades. Each summer, there are four expressions of local personality within ten miles of my home. The displays create excellent fodder for artful photographic expression. A few of my favorite photos have been in circulation for a year or two and appeared in local publications, but I posted an expanded collection at the GAP Photo website.
Take a gander at the collection of photos of Cheese Days, Egg Days, The Funtime Festival and the Vader May Day Parade.
In the meatime, I look forward to this year community events.

Photo of the Day...
The Rain's End
Hiking at the top of a ridge in the Columbia Gorge, the rain ended and we climbed into the fog. It just goes to prove that eventually, the rain will end and a new beauty will appear soon!

Of late, a kayak rides this roof, but in years passed, this noble character dotted the skyline of Index, Washington.
Thanks for visiting and have a great Monday!

Photo of the Day
Since my good friend Jon is currently snowshoeing at Crater Lake this week, I thought I would share this photo of Wizard Island during the late summer months. Crater Lake is a place of multiple seasons and multiple looks and a photographer's paradise!

GWL Slide-a-thon
Special thanks to the Great Wolf Lodge for their partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our local Great Wolf Lodge partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington to allow our local kids access to not just the slide, but a good portion of the water park.
The slide-a-thon was an attempt to break ther world record for the most mile slide on a water slide (the old record of 878 miles was set in Germany). The record had been unofficially busted by 7pm Friday evening and there was still 14 hours left in the event.
As a photographer for Big Brothers Big Sisters, I was pleased to document the joy at which local kids approached this special free opportunity. A huge thank you goes out to the Ground Mound Great Wolf Lodge staff for their great hospitality and willingness to host the kids in our program. Over 400 of our local kids and their families attended the event.
In general, the public is not allowed access to this collection (for privacy reasons) but BBBS families can contact me at gapphoto@yahoo.com for the password. There are some very special photos included!
And yes, I contributed to the world record and sampled much of the water park myself after the camera was loaded away after 11:00pm!

Photo of the Day
This is a side of Spirit Lake that few see. The amazing blue contrasted by the volcanic basalt and andesite spilled by the 1980 eruption and collapse of Mount St. Helens.

New Fastpitch Collection
Pe Ell took care of Winlock twice on the best day of the year thus far for my first fastpitch photos on three attempts. Games have been canceled or moved and both times I ended up at boy's games. The collection is located on the GAP Photo site.
Enjoy!

New Baseball Collection Available
I finally got all of the Pe Ell vs Winlock Baseball photos uploaded. Please visit the GAP Photo Website to view the collection.
New Collection!
Winlock's Josh Rose leads the pack of the Two Mile Race yesterday at a track meet in Rainier, Washington. The collection is now available on the GAP Photo Website.
New Product
I wanted to let everyone know that we have a new product capibility. The Winlock Baseball collage above is an example of what we can now do with a collection of photos. It is best if a print is purchased in at least 8 X 12". Notice I said 8 X 12 instead of the more standard 11". The horizontal width tends to be longer so edges may be cropped. When you order this print be sure and watch the crop lines very carefully! If there are any questions, please email or call me.

Photo of the Day
Becoming Exposed
The cobbles of Olequea Creek are becoming exposed. It has been a dry winter and the creek is running very low. Is anyone looking toward the possibility of a very dry summer?

Photo of the Day
I have always like this photo and now that snow season is wanning, the layer is compact and the trees are making their way out of their winter's slumber.

Photo of the Day
One of my favorite shots. Making a stand of trees look impressive in a still photo is very difficult. If it works, it almost seems accidental. Regardless, these beautiful cedars are located in the Goat Rocks Wilderness in the Cascades of Washington.

Heroes of All Types
Levi Wallace was the unlikely hero of a 3-2 Toledo win over Toutle Lkae in extra innings on Wednesday afternoon. Wallace hit a ground ball right down the third base line to drive in the winning run.
All 199 photos of the game are located at Toutle Lake vs Toledo.
Enjoy!

Photo of the Day
A Toledo/Winlock United Mid-fielder (#28, Enrique Hernandez) controls the ball towards Tenino's goal during Monday night's soccer match between the two schools. As all nighttime sports, soccer under the lights is fairly difficult to photograph without top of the line camera gear. The collection is now available to brose.

Collages, Customer Service and Feedback
Perhaps at times, it is too much, but you will receive excellent customer service and feedback from me if you ever want to work on a project together. I have done several shoots for clients where I was given little to no feedback; Good, bad or indifferent.
WARNING, that drives me crazy!
Yesterday, I gave $100 worth of digital rights ($5 per photo) away to a group of parents putting together a collage for their coach (sort of a gray area with regard my usual policy of donating to schools I suppose). She was working on a short deadline and I got the call at 11am and had the photos to her by 2pm. It was a herculean effort on my part and I am now a part of that project. My expectation, "thanks for the photos and yes, I finished the project. It looked great". When my customers use my services, I am invested.
As it turns out, you can create a collage through the GAP Photo website. I created one for another local high school coach (about $40 total). It was 18 X 24 inches. I have not experimented yet how a third party could create the college themselves, using my photos and creations from other photographers. But using MyCanvas.com can be shared so that ideas can be exchanged.
Here are a couple of projects that I have worked on....

Whatever your project may be, GAP Photo is a good resource to create it.

Free Shoot for Some Lucky.....
So I am itching to use my camera this weekend. The clients I had scheduled canceled and I need to use my camera, practice and continue to gain skill. If you are in the local area (Olympia to Longview) and would like some photos created, this may be your great opportunity. Ask yourself, what kind of photos do I need....no want?
First come first serve...limited opportunity!
Now, if only the sun would come out!

There Will Be Days....
There will be days when there is not a photo of the day! As the snow melts, I will spend more time in the high country and I don't take gadgets! This mountain goat is actually an invasive within Olympic National Park. While the goats are indidginous to the Cascades, ice sheets and water blocked their way getting to the high county of the Olympic Peninsula. Humans just couldn't stand to see the alpine scenery of the Olympics without them. Another improvement. Does anyone hear my sarcasim?
