2009-10 Toledo Girls Collage now Available
This is for my friends on the other side of Interstate 5! I had the honor of getting to know most of them through other programs in addition to basketball. They are competitive, intelligent and good people that had a great season. I was impressed with the most of the team volunteered to help kids in their community!
Congratulations and good luck on your future aspirations!
The collage can be viewed here. A Winlock Lady Cardinal collage is located here!
Thanks for looking!

The Visitor to Record
I am asked to record the experiences of others. Sometimes for me, it is a scope upon a different world considered everyday for others. Here, a family celebrates an accomplishment and a community revels in the joy of their children taking part for the first time. The world is open and bilingual, accepting and loving as a community and world should be.

Pride, Joy and Love
Get well mom!
These shoots are quickly becoming my favorite to do. There is so much potential for art in a young family that is full of love. For 30, 40 or 60 minutes, they can forget about the stresses of life and show the world the most basic human emotion. These and other photos are currently a featured gallery on the GAP Photo website.

Fundraiser or an Excuse to Party?
36 hours after one of the most successful fundraisers in recent memory, one has to ask if this group of ladies (all employees at Winlock-Miller Elementary School) are community heroines for putting on the party of the year or just looking for an excuse to party. I was the photographer at the Winlock Princess Dance and could not help but smile at a community of people that came together for fathers, daughters, sons and mothers. In reality, the dance was a fundraiser for the Winlock High School Class of 2010 and featured some hard work by some members of the senior class.
There are over three hundred photos on the GAP Photo website which is surly going to be one of the most visited site in town for a few days!
Way to go ladies!

Local Music
Some may wonder what I have been doing this week. There has not been much to photograph, but I am entering a stretch where that will change. This is Adam Larson of the band "Affected" who played a benefit concert last night at "The Loft" in downtown Olympia. A collection of 99 images are available at GAP Photo.

Winlock Lady Cardinals Basketball Collage from GAP Photo
I ordered this particular collage in the metalic printing process to show it to one of the coaches. Even in the modest 8 X 12" size, it looks awefully good. It is a choice collection of action photos that tries to include all of the major players on the Winlock Lady Cardinal Basketball team this last winter.

Let the Children Climb!
Thorbecke's Fitness Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters held a special rock climbing event (in the great indoors) for "bigs and littles" from Lewis County on Saturday. The instructors coached participants through their fears and assisted them in achieving goals. Sound familiar for real life?
Regardless, it was an absolute pleasure to watch and capture images of kids frolicking without fear at heights that frightened them hours earlier!

Winlock Basketball Collages
Cardinals Collage Link
An entire season of Winlock basketball action photos placed together on one magnificent poster.
I have put together a collage for the Winlock High School Basketball teams that show most of all the players in action. The photos are generally pretty small, so I would recommend to purchase a size of at least 12 X 18 inches. When you order, watch carefully so that the cropping on the upper left side of the check-out is OK. There will be some loss on the left and right side of the poster but it should still be an awesome keep-sake. Use sizes with more horizontal length.
Lady Cardinals Collage LinkPrices and sizes (prices are for metallic process...the highest quality...matte and glossy process will be less)
8 X 12- $8.50
12 X 18-$27.00
20 X 30-$60.00
24 X 36-$80.00
New Collection Available-Winlock Easter Egg Hunt
I posted a new collection of photos of the Winlock Community Club Easter Egg Hunt that took places this morning. I followed several families to obtain photos that were submitted to the newspaper.

Photo of the Day
Most subjects are reluctant to be circled by someone with an active camera. When you come to a photo shoot as the subject, you need to be thinking about how to present yourself and you also need to loose some inhibition.
A common problem in portraits is that subjects often look unnatural or awkward. Sometimes this is due to pose choice. However, sometimes it simply has to do with the comfort level of the subject. There are things a photographer can do to help them relax and look more natural. One idea is to play music. The shooter may invite subjects to bring a favorite CD or they may have a collection they can choose from. Allowing the subject to choose the music helps ensure that it's something they will feel comfortable with. If a photographer chooses the later option, they must have a wide variety of genres available. Another useful trick is the use of props and accessories. Sometimes if people have something to focus on they can relax and forget about the camera. A few ideas that work for all ages would be hats (of all shapes, sizes, colors and styles) or books. Flowers, individually or bunched, are great for girls and women. Toys of any variety are good for kids. Seasonal props – such as a bushel of apples or mittens and scarves have their uses as well.
When you photographer presents you with more than just a camera in your face, you know they are working to make you just as comfortable as they are creative.
